scenario:
4 houses in a terrace with a shared water mains supplying 3 out of the 4 and the odd one having their own seperate supply off the mains from the street.
Leak under the odd one out house who has own supply and not on the shared system the leak coming from the shared pipe which they are not connected to (confirmed by water board when they come to do assesment etc)
We are covered by water company policy who are going to cap off a stop valve and instate seperate supply feed for the 3 houses on the shared water system. The leak has caused internal damage ie damp etc in the odd one out house they have gone to their buildings and contents insurer who are consequently sending an assesor down and the neighbours have asked for the insurance details of the 3 homes on the shared system so that their insurance company can claim against us for the internal damage.
My question is must we supply this as firstly we were not aware they were on a seperate supply to the rest of us and their damp problem has not just happened over night but a period of time due to the leak under their property which we were not aware of until the water pressure dropped which triggered this whole sequence of events in the first place.
I am happy to use my water insurance policy for the 3 of us on the shared supply but must I supply my insurance details to my neighbour for his internal damage which we were not aware of but he obviously new about.
