I have just come on this site after nearly flinging my computer across the room in absolute frustration!
I ordered the £14.99 package in August. I didnt recieve an email informing me that I had been set up but did recieve my modem, which when set up broadband did not work. As a non technical person, I was not sure if I had set it up correctly! Needless to say several hours later I managed to get hold of a Pipex 'technical advisor' who couldnt really help me either....
This farce continued for 2 months... it included periodic telephone sessions to technical support (I called at LEAST 10 times over a 6 week period) - everytime I was told that there was a fault on my line and it should be cleared 'soon'. This was backed up by many many emails, none of which were replied consicely or, were any help whatsoever! After a fashion I lost the plot and became marginally abusive, which seemed to get better results than my previous attempts of 'sweet little girl' or 'flirtatiousness' (any way to get these people to connect my broadband - I couldnt believe the lengths this upright citizen could stoop to) and informed them that my work was suffering and that i wanted a MAC code and was going to invoice them for £3000 to make up for the loss of income I incured. Amazingly, this seemed to bring on improvement and within the week broadband was resolved! I cancelled my MAC code (only after I had contacted them twice to inform them all was OK and they still went ahead a couple of weeks later and cancelled my account) and thought better the devil you know and have been using a fairly OK service....
Then I received a letter this week informing me that they had had problems with direct debit and that I would have money taken out on the 14th Dec (nice timing - 2 weeks before Xmas). I had never recieved any billing or other information on payments, I had signed up to pay £14.99 and all other set-up costs were free! Naturally I decided to view my invoices once they were finally online and they seem to believe that I owe £105!! I have actualy only had broadband for 2 months, so in my calculations.. should be £30???! This actually made me cry as so near to Christmas this is quite a sick and upseting turn of events for what has been a truely hideous experience.
Could anyone give me advice on how to proceed? I am going to try to call them on Monday and think I should cancel my direct debit before they take out the money on Thursday.
