Hi
If it helps, from 22nd December insurers should not apply a general restriction for pregnancy on travel insurance. New EU legislation regarding gender discrimination is being applied from that date. Insurance companies should no longer specifically exclude pregnancy, policy terms and conditions will most likely be amended to make it clear that cover for Medical Expenses only applies for emergency treatment as a result of an unforeseen illnessess/injury.
Effectively this means that you are still excluded if you elect to give birth abroad or for any treatment that would be expected in the course of pregnancy or childbirth. However, any costs incurred as a result of unexpected complications should be covered.
The exact changes to the policies will vary from provider to provider so you should still check with your chosen insurer that you have cover that meets your needs.
Hope this helps.
