    Sqeaky floorboards

Living in my flat just over 1yr now and things were ok until June this year when the flat above me started having very noisy floorboards. The landlord was told about the problem and I got mixed reaction from him. On one hand he replied giving me permission to try solve the problem myself, when this was not possible and he was informed, he has now resorted to ignoring my emails.

It is now September and the problem is the same, with the tenants above taking no care to reduce noise or movement in the early hours of the morning, resulting in me and partner having sleepless nights.

Can I claim any of my rent back from the landlord and requested to be released from the contract?
