    Whilst your son and his girlfriend cannot apply for a policy as a couple they should be able to go on the same policy as individuals. If they do go on a single policy then the person making the booking would be taking responsibility for agreeing to the terms of the policy as advised by huckster in an earlier post.

    As there is no financial benefit of going on the same insurance they could take separate policies so that they both go through the relevant sales process. Even if they are covered individually through different insurance companies there should not a problem if they both have to cancel as most policies will cover cancellation due a 'travelling companion' not being able to travel. Therefore the fact that they are not related or living together should not affect the cover provided.

    If either of them have medical conditions then it is sensible to be insured on the same policy.
