My son is travelling with his girlfriend to Spain-they do not live together so believe they cannot have a 'couple' policy-is is best for them to go on the same policy as a 'group' rather than individual policies as in case of cancellation if 1 of them can't travel an insurer may deem that as tey are not related/live together then the other 1 can be reasonably expected to continue with the trip.
