iceisa: swifts: microlighter: iceisa: ddlo: A bit late but, Happy New Year to everyone. Just got back from a break.
Not openned an ISA yet. Tempted to open one with NatWest but something in the back of my mind tells me it's risky. They seem desperate to me, reminds me of IceSave. Guess i'm a bit paranoid after all that has happened.
One of the reasons I chose Nat West was that they had a 1.76% 12-month interest rate bonus. The snag, from your point of view, is that you've missed out on this because they've closed this offer now.
All I can say is that Nat West are absolutely rubbish - Opened ISA account on 15th Dec... They still haven't managed to pay my cheque in and credit the account - have to wait up to 30 days according to them - If I still had the Icesave ISA certificate I would give up and try somewhere else - it took my wife less than a week from start to finish to open and ISA with the Cheshire - I know some of you have had a good experience with Nat West but I guess all I'm saying is be very careful which branch you use to open your account. Castle Street in Liverpool is not recommended....
microlighter, seems to me NatWest are confusing your ISA with an ISA transfer from another provider which can take up to 30 days. I would phone them immediately and ask to speak to a supervisor. Your cheque should have gone overnight and would normally show as uncleared funds on your account the following day (mine did). This is unacceptable behaviour on NatWest's part.
I wish you all the best, do let me know the outcome...
When I opened my NatWest ISA, the employee who dealt with it did so after referring to an email from head office specifically about transfers from ISAs. Admittedly I had to help him find the email in his inbox, but he was aware that the email existed. Maybe whoever dealt with ou didn't know about the email and dealt with it as a normal ISA transfer.
EUREKA - after going back into Nat West in Liverpool yesterday and speaking to somebody who actually seemed to know what they were doing my money is now showing on the Nat West ISA account - Thanks Swifts for your advice. Will be checking that I get the bonus now since I opened the account within the time frame - good luck to everybody else still undecided on the best homes for the funds. Hopefully me and my wife have got the relative safety of either having our money with the government (effectively Nat West is majority owned by HM) or the Cheshire which is now under the Nationwide umbrella
