TO STOP THIS DISCUSSION FOR ONCE & ALL:

Living in The Netherlands we CANNOT open a GBP saving account in the UK nor The Netherlands. The intrest rate is slightly higher than an EUR account, but this should offset the exchange rate fluctations, which it did not (from 1,47 to 1,27 in less than a year). We pay TAX on our intrest AND on the outstanding balance. Full stop.
