Hello everyone!
I still have no reply from the legal team at UK FSCS in relation to the tax payments that UK residents have made to the treasury from their savings and whether this entitles them to compensation. Have any of you fellow bloggers who are resident in other EU countries contacted your local schemes (eg you live in Denmark and the tax on your interest has gone to the Danish treasury)? It would be interesting to see what their response is.
This morning I attended Harriet Harman's Surgery. As to be expected she was not there in person, but I spoke to a member of her team. A representative of Paliamentary Affairs will be getting back to me, either later today or more likely early next week. Interestingly, the individual I spoke to had no idea of the predicament of the Landsbanki Guernsey depositors. Like many other people she was unaware that not all British personal deposit account customers of Landsbanki have had their Landsbanki Bank deposits guaranteed by the treasury! I will keep you all posted.
