Hi James, just to say that Kwik Fit themselves asked me to go to a dealer as they were clueless. Can you believe it? I got a brake inspection report from the dealer saying that the only problem with the brakes was the fact that non genuine parts had been found. At this point Kwik Fit had no other option than let me off their hook. Got the brakes replaced at the dealership and brought the faulty parts back to Kwik Fit. They fully refunded me.
In addition, the mechanic at the dealership said that the replacement of the timing belt was overdue (I should have done it 15K miles ago!). This went completely unnoticed at the "full" service Kwik Fit did 4 months ago. When I went there to get my money back I asked about the timing belt and their answer was:"we don't do timing belts". Clearly their service covers only areas where they can charge you, for all the rest your car can even blow up as far as they are concerned.
On a final note, for original disks and pads the dealer charged me LESS than Kwik Fit!!! Unbelievable. I'd advise anyone to get a quote from a dealer before going for these "cheap" garage chains. You can bet they won't see me again....maybe only at night spitting on their sign!!!
Great talking to you,
Costa
