Im asuming you want a policy that will prevent you from being being pulled over by the police when they scan your numberplate. Laid up insurance will not (when i last checked) add the vehicle to the motor insurance database (of which the police use with their ANPR cameras)

As a previous poster said - the new type of insurance is not in force at the moment so there is no need to find insurance at this time.

If you need to tax a car then you can get tempary cover (i.e. 1-2 days) that enables you to do this for about £20.
