Have received a demand for £2880 from the Inland Revenue dating back to my separation in Nov 2005. Appears as though they paid my ex too much in working and child tax credits for five months unknown to me leading up to our official court separation. This matter was first raised in Nov 2005 and we believed it had been resolved as we heard nothing more and neither of us has changed address or received any demands. . Now out of the blue Im getting a demand for the amount or else legal proceedings. Ex apparently not being chased for money which Inland Revenue confirm went into her bank account. Three years and seven months seems a bit long for the Inland Revenue to pursue this matter as if they had at the time and been right it would have been paid off by now? Anyone with any idea/advice on ths one and could it be time barred ? thanks
