Sadly, for everyone concerned, the laws of this country allow anyone with dubious intentions to start up businesses, milk them for all they can, and simply wind them up. Unfortunately, these laws were passed many, many years ago, when, by and large most business owners were decent, honest people. Unfortunately, for everyone concerned, there is no redress other than a lesson in life, if it seems too good to be true, then it normally is. Hopefully, the posts on this site will warn others and perhaps a few potential victims will be saved from their clutches. I would advise any of the victims of these people who have posted their woeful story on this site to speak to their MP's and ask that they lobby to have the Limited Company laws are changed so that the Directors of dodgy companies are made to be more personally responsible for the financial liabilities that are left behind when a company goes under. It probably wont happen, but it would save a lot of grief, not only for the customer's of HEC/Engine Warehouse but for all the others who fall prey to unscrupulous operators.
