To Anyone,
When I was going through my I love my bank stage 2 years ago (am wiser to them now) I signed up to Lloyds TSB Home Services which was a cheap gas/electric provider. I was paying just under £29.00 a month dd. This year I got a letter from them stating that from April Scottish Power was taking over and I didn't need to do anything as payments would continue in the normal way. A week ago I got a bill from S.P. for £236 for 4 months usage and £256 other charges, with V.A.T. totalled £505 pounds. I knew it was a mistake so I called up S.P. who informed me it was no mistake.
My estimated bill was nearly 500 units over estimated but long story short the cheap gas/electric I was being charged was unrealistic and not covering my usage; although they set the dd price. Lloyds TSB Home Services were keeping the prices low in order to be cheap providers but now that S.P. have taken over and checked billing have found several discrepancies in customers accounts and basically want the underpaid amounts back. There in lies my £256 "other charges" of my £505 new bill.
It also transpired that my direct debit has not been paid to S.P. for 4 months since they took over because my dd to them has been temporarily suspended, which was news to me. I check my bank statements however I also pay 2 dds to Scottish Widows which is probably why I didn't notice no payments to Scottish Power. S.P. said that they will re-bill me with my actual meter readings but I will still have to pay the "other charges" as soon as they have sorted this mess out. S.P. said they have been left to sort out the financial mess from Lloyds TSB Home Services and deal with the irrate customers like myself. I wanted a contact number or business address of the people responsible in order to complain but they said the previous company/supplier is no longer active so they would voice my concerns on my behalf. To whom I don't know. I am waiting for my new bill but I am guessing it won't be much cheaper than the one they sent before.
I wrote this previously but having read a lot of the posts about Scottish Power over billing and dd price hikes I am now wondering if Lloyds TSB Home Services really are to blame or just a convenient scapegoat.
Is there anybody else in this position that wants to respond or a Scottish Power or previous Lloyds TSB Home Services employee that wants to defend or explain why they misled customers??
