Hi All,
Firstly thanks to everybody for contributing on the forums and raising concerns they have on issues surrounding loans. However, there are a few points and pieces of incorrect information that has been posted on this thread which I hope to now clear up.
Firstly, the MONEYSUPERMARKET Exclusive is THE CHEAPEST SECURED HOMEOWNER LOANS IN THE UK.
moneysupermarket was able to agree with First Plus to have the ONLY FIRST PLUS loan WITHOUT a fee.
As you can see from MoneyExpert's offer of 5.9%, this includes a £995 payable upfront or added to the loan. As CCA regulations insist that this is included within the APR, their rate would be over 7% if the fee was added in.
moneysupermarket's headline rate of 6.6% DOES NOT have a fee in the loan and as such is still the cheapest in the UK.
MoneyExpert's advertising however, does not mention the fee and simply quotes a RATE which is in fact an AIR and NOT an APR. These, as I'm sure you are all aware are two very different calculations.
I'd welcome any questions on this subject, but would ask that everybody makes sure that before they apply for any loans that they are comparing apples with apples or you could end up with a deal that looks very different to what you thought you'd applied for.
Kind regards,
Tim Moss
