    Re: credit card debt

Patch, all that you can do is to work out the very maximum that you can 'realistically' afford to pay back to M & S each month on this card. If that amount is less than £110 per month then so be it. Write to M & S confirming which benefit off ice you are registered with and let them know the amount that you can realistically afford to repay every month. Try and make sure that you stick to this repayment schedule though and try not to default on any payments. M & S will try to get you to pay more but they CANNOT make you pay what you haven't got! 'If' you are paying regularly and as much as you can reasonably afford there isn't a lot that M & S can do, and they know it. No court in this country will back THEM if it sees that you are doing everything you can to repay the debt out of a restricted income.

Hopefully you will be able to get back to work and then take out a couple of 0% balance transfer cards to pay M & S off. Paying off the 0% companies will be a lot easier and you will see far greater progress in reducing your debt.

    Good luck.
