I speak to quite a few customers daily with this dilema. They've cut their card up in fear of running up any more debt on the credit card, and then when they need to take things back for refunds which they've recently purchased, they have the receipt, but no credit card to take to the store to have the money refunded on to. The problem is solved quite simply by issuing a replacement card which usually takes 3-5 working days to arrive, which there is no charge for apart from the cost of the call.
