Just to let you know I had a response from 3 and they have reduced my monthly rate from £35 to £15 per month for each of the 2 phones effective after the next monthly bill. I didn't realisticly expect them to cancel the contract so I specifically asked for a reduced rate. I'm more than happy with this outcome and think they have responded in a professional way. Remember, they didn't have to do this. as our cash back contract was with Click Mobile and not 3! I would advise writing a courteous letter stating your case and meeting them halfway with a reduced rate.
They also indicated that they thought click mobile may have gone into liquidation, although I don't see this on the companies house web site...yet! They also suggested trying to get on a list of creditors, which although it's a long shot you'll see any money, its worth doing.
