I agree, those that try things in the market should be applauded and whilst the NU scheme did have its positive points, it ran shy of putting controls in place that would have made the scheme successful. Now we are being told that it will be back with more restrictions and more costs.

There is a scheme for young drivers linking low cost insurance to the purchase of a newer car and is the only scheme that insists upon complusory Pass Plus for novice drivers. The newer the car, the controls are better, the brakes are more responsive and the attitude of the driver is entirely different. The results of this have been a dramatic reduction in the number of drivers involved in collisions, which has a knock on effect of reducing the premiums.
