This is just the kind of problem that drives us mad here - the subject of speed. BT do not have particularly fast connection speeds at the best of times (confirmed by our most recent Speedtest survey - results to be published on the site later this week) although they are not particularly worse than the majority of providers.

In terms of your contract, as long as you are connected to the net then BT have fulfilled their obligations to you under the terms of their contract (unfair I know). It will be very difficult to get out of this - best route would be to find out how much it will cost you to disconnect and pay this fee - try and pass it onto a new provider (would recommend O2 or Sky if Virgin isnt available to you) in return for a mid length contract - you never know

Sorry I cant give any better news - this would be your only matter of recourse with BT
