I applied for a barclays monthly savings online on 2nd june. During the application process, I have stated that the first monthly payment of 250pds to be taken from 1st July. Barclays then sent a confirmation email to acknowledge the receipt of application. In the email, it is not stated when will the first payment be made.

When I checked my accounts yesterday, I was surprised that the monthly savings had already been opened on 3rd June. As I didn't expect that to happen, my current account has gone overdrawn. And conveniently, there is a 30pd charge for going into unauthorised overdraft limit.

Welcome to Barclays. First was the Tax Haven ISA fiasco, then now the Monthly Savings account. Not to mention that everytime I try to deposit money into Tax Haven ISA via telephone banking, I spend more time trying to politely decline the offered new barclays products (insurance, credit cards...).
