    Re: Bad Credit Loan

    Hi Jessgirl

In the current climate, the missed payments on the credit cards will hamper your ability to obtain a loan at a competetive interest rate.

That said, there are still companies in the market place that cater for customers who have adverse credit. There are also several brokers in the market who will say they can find you a loan for an upfront fee, usually about £50. These companies should be avoided, as they are not guaranteed to find the loan for you.

I would suggest that you use the SmartSeach facility on Moneysupermarket. This will enable you to get an idea of what your credit profile is before you make an application, this will ensure that you are applying to the lenders that best suit your profile as it will list the lenders for you that best match your situation. Making several applciations will reduce your credit score so making an application to the right type of lender is important.

If you are not sure of the impact the missed payments have had on your credit score I would suggest you obtain a copy of your credit file. The main credit reference agencies are Experian, Equifax and Call Credit. This will let you check the information lenders use when deciding whether or not to lend to you.

    Good luck
