I understand your concern regarding cashback offers and the general negativity within the market. Unfortunately the mobile market remains entrenched in cashback deals, and there remains a huge appetite out there for such deals. We are attempting to develop a non cashback section within our site, but unfortunately, this did not work within the trial which was run at the start of April. Other than buying direct from the network, every other avenue of sale within independent retailers includes some form of cashback or a free gift via redemption. We have built in functionality within our search filters to remove cashback deals - however, over 90% of our customers do not use this function - in other words they are actively seeking cashback deals, despite the negative press surrounding them.
Moneysupermarket HAVE to offer these deals as part of a full comparison of the market and it is then up to the customer whether to progress with the purchase.
I personally manage the relationship with all of our mobile providers and they are under strict notice that any retailer who has unjustifiable levels of customer dissatisfaction (either through our own forums or in the wider press) will be removed immediately from our listings.
All communications from moneysupermarket via Rate Alert are vetted in advance and discussed at a senior level prior to sign off. In this case it was deemed that the two offers listed were so strong that we had a duty to inform our customers.
We also work extremely closely with our retailers in order to raise concerns via our forums, specific to individual cases and assist in the remedy of these issues where possible. All of our valued customers who choose to take up the offers listed within our site have the added comfort of direct access to myself, at any time, in order to assist with any aspect of service or value.....
Whilst I understand and appreciate your comment, I have to point out that we carefully select our partners and ongoing monitoring is in place - if we solely focused on revenue generation there would be far mor than the 12 national providers listed on our site, compared to in excess of 1000 individual, independent online mobile phone retailers who are desparate to be listed by ourselves.
