Re: OPENING A BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT

    Cheers for that JJ.

I currently bank with Barclays and did think of getting one with them as it would probably be the best idea and less hassle, only to realise that I cannot do this until September at the earliest....I requested that Barclays put an arrangement on my overdraft so that I could pay it off monthly, and until this agreement ends at the end on August I cannot apply for anything with them! So I've kinda shot myself in the foot really with Barclays....

The frustrating thing is working as a contractor I will more than double my salary, but without a business account I cannot earn!

    Thanks

    Graham

Re: OPENING A BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT

    Hi Graham,

After being told by Natwest, Halifax and Nationwide that she must conduct her personal accounts in a proper manner for at least 6 months before being accepted for a basic business account, Barclays Bank accepted my Mrs with no qualms. Her credit history is ok but we'd had a few late payments and returned direct debits in the previous couple of months on our joint bills account.

We couldn't understand why the others wouldn't approve or even consider approving the application, it's not as if we wanted any funding, we had £11k to open the account with. Barclays were equally bemused and opened the account straight away with a Visa debit card and cheque guarantee.

    Result!

    JJ

    OPENING A BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT

    Hi

This is my first post, hopefully somebody out there might be able to help.

In the coming weeks I will be starting work as a contractor, and this will mean having to open a business bank account. I was wondering if there was anybody out there who has opened one recently, especially if their credit rating is not 100%. I have not actually applied for any yet as I have moved recently and I am waiting for my name to be shown on the electoral register (from 1st Aug). My recent history has been good, and I have been accepted for credit as recently as December 2006 even when my name wasn't on the electoral register, but going back as far as 2002 I had a default on a mobile phone contract, and occasional late payments on a credit card between 2002 and 2004.

Therefore if anybody has recently opened a business bank account recently when their credit hasn't been the best it would be good to hear from them, where it was and if there were any problems. Like I said I have not applied anywhere yet and I might just be being paranoid about being accepted, but waiting till my credit rating improves is not really an option for me at the moment.

    Thanks

    Graham
