Re: PART EXCHANGED CAR ,NOW BIG PROBLEMS!!!!

ive seen this trick played before when a dodgy dealer sells a poor quality car. Its a way to stop the customer coming back to them to get repairs fixed free of charge!

No problem --- Can you move me some gardening rubbish in your new van ?  : - )

Please stick around though, not only is this forum a great place to get help, we each and all need some sort of help of our own, at times.

    Be strong, poochunks.

All points I was going to make already have been made but just want to give more moral support. The dealer has had opportunity to appraise the car and it is up to him if a fault has arisen after the exchange.

It's not like you have misdescribed it in terms of mileage or ABI condition (been in a crash and that).

You are the registered keeper of the van. It's yours.

Let us know if anything develops, I hate rogue traders giving us honest traders a bad name.

    Hmmmm.

I would be also inclined to say that the deal is done, unless he could somehow claim that you have misrepresented the state of the car to him, in which case, there might be some sort of payback open to him.  But I am pretty sure only a court could decide that.  I imagine that there is some specific law pertaining to the sale of vehicles, but I have never come across it and do not actually know for certainw hat the answer to your query might be.

    Stand your ground, I reckon.

Re: PART EXCHANGED CAR ,NOW BIG PROBLEMS!!!!

The deal has been done, unless you sold the car with a warranty then he has no legal comebacks on you at all, he had a chance to fully inspect your car before the deal or take the gamble, and he has no redress on you whatsoever now the deal has been done.

If he tries to take the van it is a criminal offence, in which you can call the Police.

hi, i have just part exchanged my car for a van, i have the
registration doc of the van and the dealer has signed it over to me,
HOWEVER! he has now rung me because my old car has developed a
fault(leaky rad, water pump gone) and is now demanding i pay £300
towards repair of my old car, he says if i dont pay it he will drop my
car back and take the van away! he says he can undo the deal? is this
