Re: contents insurance - shared ownership

I would class yourself in the same way as an owner with an existing mortgage, naming the association as the other interest when you are asked.

After all the rental payment will be made in place of some of your mortgage payments, this should let you get quotes based on the same risks. Then if you decide to go with the company let them tell you if there is a difference in the quote, when you declare the above circumstances, and notify them in writing to confirm they know what they are covering before they put you, "on risk".

    contents insurance - shared ownership

I live in a property that is 75% owened by housing association and 25% by me. Housing association sort out the building insurance ,i need to do contents insurance, but when i am giving details if property, i am both owner and a tenant, and i find that insurance companies dont know what to quote me as. They dont have an option for shared ownership, hence i then wonder if i did claim would they pay up, should they decide that i am either a tenant or owner as a way of not paying out.

Does anyone know a company that can deal with this, or what would be correct status for me to say when i get quotes?
