Have you paid on your credit card? Credit cards usually come with some travel cover. Read through and see if your happy with it.
Also, the NHS pay for any medical treatment you need in the European Union (as long as you haven't travelled for the purpose of getting medical treatment). You must apply first. here (cut and paste into your browser)

Most travel insurances (if you choose to buy it) covers you for the whole of the EU including any pre-booked trips with the UK.
