"What mess? You can pay for the school photo and for petrol with cash. Personally I prefer to take my own photos of the kids - our school photographer tries to make the kids look like a group of Charlie's Angels. It wastes a day of schooling and the pictures are rubbish."

    I couldn't agree more!

In my school pics I either look like an angel, or a serial killer.

You have had problems in the past with buying things that you couldn't afford. Those issues will all be forgotten about after 6 years. All you need to do is pay your bills and spend what you can afford for 6 years and then you can have a debit card and, probably, a credit card and a mortgage as well if you want.

Would a prepaid card build my credit score up aswell??

No. Your credit record mainly records transactions that are covered by the consumer credit act. Pre-paid cards are not a form of credit so there will be no effect unless you somehow managed to find a way to get into debt to the card issuer.

    Thank you

The card would be only used for small purchases online.

    Re: Bank Account declined

My understanding is that prepaid cards can be used to pay for anything that you could pay for with a credit card. However eBay, PayPal and some other sites also use your card details to confirm your identity. Pre-paid cards will work with some but not all sites that want to confirm your identity.

There is a list of some pre-paid cards behind the purple "money" tab. My view is that it would not be sensible to use one for large value transactions.

Its only for paying for things online if needed, can I link one of these prepaid cards to things like paypal ie ebay??

Is there one prepaid card which is best to use??

I would suggest that you use cash for petrol but you can also look a pre-paid card for items that need to be paid for with plastic. These cards cost money so, in my opinion, they are not useful if cash can be used instead.

    Bank Account declined

    Please help??

Just tried to upgrade my bank account to a normal account just with a debit card, and they said it would have to be a new application and then I would have to be credit checked. The credit check came back as declined as I have an adverse credit history.

What does the mean?? What can I do to get out of this mess??

All I want to do is pay for my daughters school photos, and important things like petrol!!
