Re: No Electricity Bill/Meter not registered!

Here is what I would do. Write to the company responsible for your area ( Scottish Power), pointing out the problem and asking for their help. Advise them that if you do not hear from them within say 30 days, that you will continue to use electricity on the basis that it is being provided free of any charges. Send recorded delivery.

If you send them pictures of the meter, with any numbers showing, that may help them.

I can't see that it is your problem. Either the builder did not register or because the meter was not used for a number of years, it has been taken off the central database.

Hi again Huckster... really appreciate all your help on this one...

I checked out the website Wiki as suggested, again its not helping. I have already contacted all of those numbers, nobody recognises my meter serial number. I do not have an MPAN number aka supply number on or near the meter. When I spoke to Scottish Power and Meter Point they were unable to help. Is it my responsibility to register the meter???

This wiki page will help you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meter_Point_Administration_Number

There are phone numbers for the companies responsible for registering the meter details on the relevant database.

I believe that a company is responsible in every region for setting up the meter numbers and being the default supplier. But then you are free to shop around to whichever company that you want to use.

Consumer Focus may be able to help.

    No Electricity Bill/Meter not registered!

    Hello

Can anyone help. I moved into my new house in deember 2011. As yet I have not recieved a bill for electric, gas is LPG. I did record my opening reading and then rough monthly readings. I am placing the correct cash each month aside in case they do decide to bill. The meter does not have a supply number on it, it does have a serial number. I contacted Scottish Power as I live in Lanarkshire, they did not recognise my meter serial number. I then contacted Meter Point who also had no record of me. They advised re contacting the Builder, which I did, they have gone bust. property built in 2007, laid empty for 4 yrs until I bought it. Not sure what do to next... Any advice??

    Paul
