    Re: Refusal to confirm NCB

Why do they need to confirm it? Surely they can just look at the industry database for NCD? After all, that's what they do if you make a cliam - they consult the industry-wide claims database. And if you take out (car) insurance they put you on the industry MIIC database for all and sundry to see. What's that? They don't have a central register of NCD? Surely they must. Why would they not have such a useful tool?

    Re: Refusal to confirm NCB

Phone Coop again. Explain the situation. You cannot use the NCB twice. Coop think that you are trying to use the NCB you have with them, to get a cheaper policy elsewhere for the second car.

Many people think that the NCB is something you earn and can then be used on as many policies as you like. This is not the case. If you own one car and have earned 5 years NCB, you can only use it on one policy. If you buy a second car and Insure it separately, you won't have any NCB on the second car policy, unless the second car policy Insurers are allowing you a special deal.

    Refusal to confirm NCB

    Hi

I am insured with co-op on one car as registered keeper and owner .

I have temporarily insured a second car acquired on my father-in-law's death (of which I am also now registered keeper and owner), with another company. This second company wants confirmation of ncb from the co-op to honour their quote.

The co-op renewal letter for this year, 2012/13, stated 2 years ncb which has presumably been applied to this years (currently active) policy. This letter is not good enough for the second insurance company they want further confirmation from the co-op.

The co-op, having told me on telephone that they would send out confirmation of my ncb, have now written refusing confirmation of ncb on an 'active' policy.

Can they do this? What would the reasoning be and can I challenge it?

    Thanks for your help.
