As huckster suggests, it's something not all brokers will do but it's not impossible. It may be more expensive than a normal policy so you can ask about a short-term policy. The chassis number will usually be on a plaque with a barcode inside the front windscreen, infront of the passenger seat.

No you are correct. The car is brand new with only a few miles on the clock.

One type of insurance would be similar to a motor dealer's policy which would cover you for any vehicle. You can also investigate short term insurance.

I'm guessing that the vehicle has never been issued with a registration number in the past.

You need to contact an Insurance broker. Adrian Flux brokers are one that can arrange cover with the chassis number.

    Cannot register car without insurance.

We have a problem. We have bought a brand new car, not through a dealer but direct from an insurance company as smoke damaged (The car has no smoke damage at all, just happenened to be on the forecourt which caught fire). We are trying to register the car with the DVLA, our problem is they won't register it without it been insured and I can't get insurance from anywhere as the car doesn't yet have a regestration number plate from the DVLA!

We have been told by the DVLA to get Chassis Insurance but no one seems to do this they all need a registration number.

Please someone help as we are at our wits end here
