    Thank you Huckster & Exterminator for your input on the 2 year warranty,

    I can understand the reasoning and I am a little disappointed

    but at least I now know I am not being

    short changed.

    The supplier is correct, only the balance of the original warranty remains. It is to do with the original contract date and the fact that only a Two year warranty was originally agreed - Otherwise if this were not the case, it could be possible for someone to obtain a never ending infinite warranty...... should the replaced equipment keep failing whilst under a freshly renewed warranty period.

    Uncertainty sometimes arises when a product is replaced under a warranty. This does not mean that you receive a new warranty when you receive a replacement. In essence the contract that you make at the time of sale, which includes the warranty, is formed at the time when you paid the money.

    Issuing a replacement is something that occurs under the original agreement. It does not mean that you receive a new warranty. Therefore, it is important to be aware that your original warranty will expire on the original purchase, rather than the clock being re-set on the warranty at the time when your item is replaced.

    Thank you Huckster, I was of the same opinion. To my logic if you buy something with a 2 year warranty

    and it is faulty then it is replaced with a brand new replacement. Therefore the original warranty becomes obsolete

    after the replacement is made and the replacemnt should therefore carry a new 2 year warranty from the date of the

    replacement.

    However the supplier seemed quite definite that the original warranty would still be in force covering the new phones

    but from the date of the original purchase.

    There may be something definite "in law" relating to this so if any persons out there know of something then Huckster

    and I would like to hear from you.

    I would think that if it is a brand new replacement product, then you have the warranty that comes with a new product. Plus the warranty is only what the company are offering. Under the normal consumer laws, if you can show the equipment is faulty, then you are covered for a period that is considered reasonable for the equipment to have lasted.

    2 year warranty.

    I have a hearing defect and my wife is disabled. We therefore purchased on-line a home telephone package. It consisted of the main phone with built in answerphone together with "satelite" phones that could be placed in different rooms. The phone had an extra loud ring and a button on each phone to increase the volume of the person on the other end talking to us.

    The telephones are fine and we do not have to rush to the main phone but just to the nearest room, excellent!

    The package came with a 2 year warranty and recently the phones developed a problem and had to be returned for a replacement. I have now received the replacement phones but when I asked the supplier if the 2 year warranty started from receipt of the replacement I was told the replacement phones only came with the balance of the 2 year original warranty. Is this correct?
