    Cyberi4n:

The sad thing about this press release is this "Anyone in debt should get free debt advice from their local Citizens Advice Bureaux as quickly as possible on how to sort out debts."

In the past I've found it virtually impossible to get quick advice from the CAB due to chronic underfunding - it's not unusual to be told to wait 6 weeks before an appointment is available - that simply isnt quick enough... :(

    Hi

Fair comments, 6 weeks seems a lot though

Funding is a serious issue I am afraid.

More people requiring CAB services divided by funding cuts, well, it wont exactly help will it.

They are trying though - new free debt resource link below

    http://mymoney.nedcab.org.uk/moneyadvice/

    And main Adviceguide site..(free)

    Hi zeb

Yes, you may well be right.

I just keep wondering how many reports, surveys & press releases etc it will take before anybody really does anything about anything as there has been so many over the years that people probably just stop taking any notice now.

Overall though zeb, things are getting pretty 'strained' to say the least.

Surely things can't go on much longer like this, can they zeb?

As with most things like this the government will probably wait until the sh&t hits the fan with cowboy companies before it takes action and regulates this type of industry (debt management and payday loans) and then when they do they will make it so restrictive that probably the only people who will fulfil the qualifying criteria for its benefits will be the people who no not really need it anyway but have been sucked in by the advertsing.
