Re: gadget travel insurance whilst already abroad

Yes you buy a Travel Insurance from companies such as world nomads or world-first.co.uk and arrange separate cover for your more expensive personal effects. I think most of the gadget Insurances assume that you are traveling from the UK, so I am not sure whether they will cover you or not. You will have to enquire. You can also check with your bank or credit card provider, as they sometimes have personal effects Insurances available for their expatriate customers.

gadget travel insurance whilst already abroad

    Hello,

I need to buy a travel insurance that provides adequate coverage on electronic items that I will take on my travels...digital camera, ipod, mobile phone (cell phone) etc.

Firstly, I'm already abroad so I can't purchase a policy from my country of residence (UK) as to be insured my journey must begin from the UK on the policy start date.

I have come across an insurance company called www.worldnomads.com that offers cover for those already abroad but the excess charge per sectional claim is more than the worth of some of my electronics, so in the event of a claim it's pretty pointless.

Personally I think I'm better buying a travel insurance to cover medical costs and a separate insurance for my electronics but the problem is I'm already abroad. Can you suggest a company that is prepared to cover my electronics whilst I'm already away?
    Cheers!
