Many of the legal expenses providers under Home Insurance are not that great, because the Insurers have not paid that much for the cover. They will restrict what they cover and when you come to claim they will try to find a reason as to why they are unable to meet your expenses.

Probably the best companies I have come across are Direct Line and Allianz. Also worth looking at the DAS cover that some policies provide. You can also buy separate legal expenses cover, for which there are a number of suppliers online. Sometimes the standalone policies do provide more cover.

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that provides decent Legal Expenses cover on their home insurance and will actually pay out on a claim?

I've had a bad experience with Barclays Insurance and I'm having to complain to the Financial Ombudsman about them. I have found them to be difficult and unreliable when making a claim, even though they said I was covered.
