    I think it is the person on the bills that is responsible, as the energy supplier would not know you are resident and on the tenancy. However, I have read that energy suppliers will expect the occupiers who have consumed the energy to pay for it, even if they were not the bill payer. Not sure how they deal with this, but you should contact the energy company as soon as possible for advice.

    Hi

    This is my first post and hope you can help.

    I have recently split with my partner and little did I know that the gas and electricity has not been paid for months.

    The gas and electricity bills are in her name only but we both lived here for 2 years and the tenancy was in both our names.

    Am I now responsible for paying this? I still live in the property.
