Re: payday loan taken out in my name

There is a possibility that a loan has been taken out through a different company or trading name and that ukpayday is the actual lender of the money or they offer loan and account administration services to other loan companies. This money supermarket site includes ukpaydaytoday as one of the loan places in their selection in the pay day loan category and having looked at the .co.uk site it states at the bottom of the page possibly in halftone text that they are not a loan company and offer a comparison service of some products available on the market. They do have various registrations in the UK and they may or may not be connected with that other company with the similar name.

I really don't know how they work. I read on another forum of a case where someone had received a letter similar to the one you received. They went back to the company concerned saying that they never had a loan and if they think they did, to provide the bank account details where the loan was paid into.

Looking at their internet site, I think it may be a scam. Where is their company registration number, contact address, details of being registered with the OFT etc. I can't see these on the site. Their name is also very similar to other companies.

Suggest that you report as a scam. This is who you need to report it to. http://www.actionfraud.org.uk/report_fraud

Your next question is why they have selected you to write to. I think these are sent out to random people.

rhiload:I received a letter yeaterday from ukpayday saying i have defaulted on a loan ,thing is i have never had a loan from ukpayday !!!!What can i do about it?How has this happened ?I am quite worried, what should i do?

If you have never taken out any payday loan and this is definitely a question of fraud, then I think you should phone your local Police station on 101 (this is the new tel no to call you local Police station) to find out what you need to do.

Before you phone the Police, do enquire with anyone you know with access to your details, whether they know anything about it. I have read of husbands/partners or family taking out loans using someone elses details.

I have read on other forums of such companies writing to people about loans they have never taken out, so it could be a scam or someone using your identity has taken out a loan.

You could also check your credit record with Experian and Equifax to see what is showing.
