    Thanks huckster, that helped.

I don't mind a replacement for another monitor, just not this one. I'll take what you said under advisement and see how it goes! I will try to chase a refund first because of their lack of decent monitors.

In regards to suitability for use. The monitor should have been but I think the implementation of the design was just flawed. £200 isn't exactly cheap for an LCD in my opinion.

Re: Refund on a new monitor from PC World??

If you took it back, they will just plug it in and show it working, with you then left trying to explain that you think it has an inherent fault, which is also reported by others online.

I also suspect that they will say that different monitors have slightly different performance levels and the one you bought may not be suitable for the usage required by you. If they did not advise you on which monitor to buy and they have not failed to describe performance spec accurately, then I can see them swapping it for another.

What I would do if I were in a position of a store not helping, is to threaten to involve Trading Standards if they cannot resolve, Tell them you think the monitor has an intermittent fault, with the performance issues you described. Intermittent faults can be very hard to prove and if you only bought the monitor recently, I think you can return it to the retailer for a full refund within 6 months of purchase. If you say intermittent, even if they plugged it in and it did not show a fault, they might just take your word for it. They might offer you a replacement for the same make/model, but I suspect you can ask to replace it with another make/model paying any extra required if it costs more.

Refund on a new monitor from PC World??

I just purchased a new monitor from PC World a couple of weeks ago to replace my old one for use with my computer. My computer works without any flaws and my previous monitor had NO problems.

This new monitor has a few issues that are not "satisfactory for me" but I'm not sure if I am entitled to a refund.

The main problem is what I believe to be input lag, I notice the monitor lags from time to time when I play games. This never happened on my old monitor (in fact, on any of my other monitors here) and I switched over to confirm. I asked my family to see if they notice it but they don't notice it AS much as I do. I ask other people who play games often and they do notice it. It is unbearable for me to use, I just can't play competitively on it!

Another issue is the colours. I do a lot of work with graphics and imaging and the colours on this monitor (even with some serious calibration) just wash over one another. But the biggest and most noticeable is the brightness. Top right side is duller than the rest of the screen. It isn't the same all over.

PC World advertised this as LED (I will check when I go back) but in reality it isn't an LED monitor, it is actually a WLED backlighting after some checking. I don't know if they can do this or not.

The first thing PC World is going to say, is repair...which I just don't want. IT can't be repaired, it is an inherent design flaw. Other people have mentioned these problems after spending some time researching online. Also PC World is going to probably want to test it but I am 80% sure that they will say there is no problem, frankly the staff are incompetent and don't know what to look for.

Speakers are also very very poor.

Am I entitled to a refund? If so, can I just go in and ask for a refund? They will try to bully me into not giving it or waste time "fixing" it though so I'm not sure how to approach it.

    Any advice would be appreciated!
