I'm really sorry about this. Sounds as though this account has also been caught up in the glitches I spoke about previously.

As per my offer to m8tty, if you drop an email to the address in my Profile with the account details and your father's full name and date of birth, I'll be happy to investigate and sort this for you.

I have had exactly the same issue occur.

Electricity bill is in my fathers name and the bill was sent to me (full first and second name on envelope). Pretty much anything I enter my name for is always my shortened first name so I'm always surprised to receive communications using my full name unless it's from a bank/HMRC etc.

To be honest, I'm very unhappy with eon for doing this as I've never had any correspondence with them.

I would like to know exactly where they got my name from. It's opted out from the electoral roll, so I'm intrigued to know exactly which database this originated from, which company or organization gave eon permission to use it (incorrectly) to send me a utility bill.

This will allow me to ensure that the data protection act has not been breached with regards to my personal details.

I'm really sorry your name has suddenly appeared on your dad's electricity bill.

I suspect this has something to do with changes we've made recently to increase the security of individual accounts. We've done this to help prevent fraud.

Unfortunately, we've had a few glitches updating the accounts and it sounds as though you've fallen foul of one of these.

This can be put right and I'm also sorry your dad's been having difficulties sorting this with us.

They can put any name they like on the bill. They can't hold anyone they want liable though. If the bills are being paid on time, they should change it back - you might need to phone them too to get it done.

Sometimes it's useful to have the bill in your name as it gives you widely accepted proof of address.

hi guys i live at home with my mum and dad, sudernly my names on the electric bill, dads with eon, were all shocked can they do this ? its been in my dads names for the last 20 years, hes rang them sevral times to no avail, aparently its sumthing to do with me geting credit recently, im not happy as its not my elec bill, thanks, matt
