    Fully agree with you, but the tidal wave of consumerism is almost a Tsuami at Christmas with adverts clamouring for your cash. I pity those with young children of an imprssionable age. I am a 'bah humbug 'that only ever borrowed money for a mortage, and paid it off well before the end of the term.

    No one sems capable of enjoyying themselves without spending money nowadays. I would bring back rationing as it was in the early fifties , that would sort it fast.

    Christmas to leave 10m of us in the red

    Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

    Cheery thought this, for a Monday morning, but our latest spot of research shows that almost 10m of us will be pushed into - or further into - debt by our spending this Christmas. Just over half have saved enough to cover spending.

    Overall, for those going further into debt...

    69% said they will resort to spending on a credit card;

    23% plan to use their overdraft; and

    9% plan to take out a loan to tide them over.

    Is it time we got to grips with this Christmas spending madness? Or do I need to get a little Christmas cheer? Bah humbug!

    :-)
