For Gas.

Look for the gas meter reference number , known as the MPRN and/or Serial Number on the meter then telephone 0870 6081524. Hopefully they can tell you the gas supplier.

My MPRN is 10 figs i.e 1572007005 & the S/N is 14 figs ie G3A03457710601 ( real number altered ).

For Electricity.

Look for the meter number, known as the MPAN and telephone Ecoes on 0870 751 0093. They ,also, should say who the supplier is.

My MPAN is a number similar to something like 15 2004 0068 526.

I hope this helps. If the telephone numbers I have stated have changed, you should be able to Google for the new numbers or ask The Energy Helpline on 0800 074 0745.

I'm moving into a house that has been empty for over 3 years so havent got a clue who the gas and electricity provider is!

How do i find out who is it? or can i just sign up to any provider because its been so long since the house was occupied?
