Re: Hate my speed - can individual lines be upgraded?

Its not your individual property wiring that matters for the Infinity service - but whether the local cabinet for your area has been upgraded to cope with the improved connectivity available from your exchange. There are many tales of exchanges that have been upgraded but only selected distribution cabinets have been done.
You said that you are with Sky - are you are their fully unbundled service (LLU) or are you on the standard Sky Connect ADSL offering??? If you are on the Connect service, then you need to ask Sky whether you can move onto the LLU service which should give you more speed - altho' its possible that their equipment is fully utilised in your exchange.
Having said that, the standard results for ADSL indicate that your line is only suitable for 512k which suggests that you are a long way from the exchange - you can see this from the router statistics by looking for the downstream attentuation.

Hate my speed - can individual lines be upgraded?

    Hi,

I'm getting frustrated with only have 2MB-2.5MB connection on my Sky Broadband, but every other provider can only offer me pretty much the same speed, perhaps at best 1MB better but then I'm paying a dam sight more money for it.

BT's infinity plan is weird for Portsmouth. One of our exchanges is already ready, but the other is due in 2012 which makes no sense. However apparently I'm connected to the exchange that is ready. But what I think is stopping me is that my individual line isn't enabled for it, which seems a bit stupid as it's a new build property so you'd think that they would put decent wiring in the property. I mean how do the decent broadband areas get the good wiring in their property?

Can you pay someone to upgrade your telephone line? If so how and what cost is involved?

I took the data below from SamKnows.com about my broadband but it's all greek to me. Does that help anyone? Please advise!

EDIT - also I took the speed test on this and it claims I can manage a 6.4MB download speed.........EH?! Every single other website I go to claims I can only do 3MB max. Why is this site suddenly been optimistic?
