    Re: EON Price Increases

peterhugh:Malc, thanks for your reply which does help. I spoke to one of the E.ON customer reps a few days ago and she informed me about the Saveonline 9 tariff which indeed has lower unit prices than the other tariffs so my increase won't be as high as I thought it might be but overall will be in the region of 19% which is bad enough.
    Regards

Just bear in mind that the actual current discount on SOL v9 is considerably more than the guaranteed discount of 2%(In my region its ~ 15%) - so plenty of room for EON to increase your rates without breaking the rules of the tariff!
Its actually the cheapest tariff now available in my region by a considerable margin - so in my view unsustainable in the medium/long term.

    Re: EON Price Increases

Hi peterhugh and sorry for the delay replying; just returned from holiday.

Sounds as though you're on our Saveonline 2 tariff. As Mr Spock says, this is a discounted tariff with a set percentage off our standard prices for managing your account online. This is also a variable rather than a fixed tariff. As such, prices will go up if our standard rates increase.

Since Saveonline 2 was released, we've changed the way we discount our online tariffs. Instead of a set percentage discount deducted from the total bill before VAT, we now build the online management discount into the unit prices. Consequently, these will be lower than our standard rates.

The percentage each rate is below standard varies depending on the region. However, on the latest Saveonline 9 tariff, we guarantee this will be at least 2 per cent lower. I suspect this is the 2 per cent you're referring to. As I say, this isn't a discount but a guarantee to be at least 2 per cent lower. This will be more in some cases.

Additionally, the discount for paying with a Direct Debit is still in place.

To see how our latest tariffs compare with what you're currently on and with other products in the wider market, I would pop your details on to one of the comparison sites. This will list out all the alternatives open to you, both with us and the other suppliers.

Hope this makes things a little clearer peterhugh. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help.

    Malc

    EON Price Increases

The recent announcement by EON increasing their prices from the 13th September is not the end of the storey. I have been using EON for a number of years and received an online discount of 17% on both gas and electricity bills. As from the 31st August this discount for managing your account online has been reduced to 2%, effectively increasing my costs by 15%. EON called the 17% discount a "special promotional discount" although I had enjoyed a 13% discount way back in 2008. So, not only do I loose the 15% online discount but my prices also go up by 18% and 11%. This is not on. I hope EON have the courtesy of replying to this message - they have failed to reply to my direct email to them.
