    Re: Peugeot 1.6HDI 90 s

Presumably the £600 quote is a main Peugeot dealer?? Seems well over the top - I had discs and front pads replaced on a Corsa for ~ £120 at a local garage - so all 4 should come in at less than half your £600. One of the issues with discs is that the pad assemblies appear to be narrower than the discs which results in a groove being worn on the outside edge of the disc - used to be able to polish these out but unfortunately the discs appear to be made too thin to do that nowadays.

Why don't you look for a Peugeot users forum?

If this is a common problem, then you can organise a class action.

You might also consider a scrap dealer, who may have a nearly new car recently written off, which may have salvageable discs at a fraction of the cost of new parts.

    Peugeot 1.6HDI 90 s

    My Peugeot 207 1.6HDI 90S

Bought myself this nice little car a year ago with 9,300 mile on the the clock and one years extended warranty. The car has been serviced as per manufacturer’s specifications and just received a full service at 30,800 miles. Shock horror to be advised the front discs are in poor condition and the rear disc should be replaced as very thin. The warranty does not cover the braking system so I am looking at a repair cost of about £600 for all four discs. An agent from Peugeot UK advised me they were unable to help as they do not cover brake and clutch frictional material.

Extremely disappointed with Peugeot’s stance and as I feel the discs have no longevity, are not fit for purpose resulting in a realistic danger to my family and other road users, I question the credibility of Peugeots genuine parts. I have been driving all makes of cars for thirty three years and never experienced this component failure at such a low mileage. The only car I have had which required its front disc to be replaced was my 2005 Freelander which Landrover replaced at 63,000 miles free of charge. I also sold my Nissan Premera at 107,000 miles and all four of it discs were in excellent condition. My argument with Peugeot fell on deaf ears so I may go and buy a new gas guzzling 4x4 as what I believed would be a practical economical car to run is going to be very expensive if I have to replace its discs every sixteen months.

Only time will tell what other components will not last on my Peugeot, oh I remember, the front tyres lasted less than 15,000 and were £229 to replace compared to the front tyres on my Frelander lasted 29,000 miles and were only £122 pounds for the pair. Don’t be fooled a 4 x 4 can work out cheaper to run than you would imagine especially if you cover a high mileage as I do.

    Sad Consumer.
