I don't think some one would invest in a domain name which isn't vulgar amd develop it into an adult site. Doesn't make good business sense because it won't show up in a search under certain keywords.

Thats my point though. if you sell curtain rail rings amnd search for curtain rail rings, you are unlikely to come across many xxx sites unless the particular models have a thing for curtain rail rings.

Admittedly if you are searching for a specific company and you type their name into the google box and you could have a couple of xxx sites pop up, but then you would be a bit of an idiot not to read the tag line that is provided with the goggle listing....or am I the only person that always reads these

Um, but how many people find websites by directly typing the full address in the browser bar? I guess most search for a business on Google for example and click a named link. In which case they could be in for a surprise if the .xxx version has a higher search ranking (which is perfectly possible). I don't think domain names are that expensive so it might be worth it I suppose?

I see your point and also share a certain amount of concern but I think there is a difference between typing www.thewebsite.com and www.thewebsite.xxx into your browser. If searching for your business it should be pretty obvious if you sell metal curtain rings that a search will not come up with website.xxx unless your curtain rings where slinky pvc rubber sleeves :)

In essence though I think that the planet as a whole would agrue this as I am sure that bbc.xxx or microsoft.xxx or barclays.xxx is not going to go down to well and I am sure that these companies do not want to have to buy that domain name just to protect themselves

I just read about a plan to sell .xxx versions of all existing website domain names like .co.uk, .com etc., This means that someone can set up a .xxx version of your website or company name and get visitors who were looking for your site (and might get a surprise!) and people will think you are now associated with the porn industry! The article www.netdragon.co.uk/news.html suggests there isn't much you can do about it except buy the .xxx version of the name yourself, is this true? I'm worried as I run a couple of sites for my home based business.
