Re: Young driver, "drive other cars" car insurance

    1. Does any of you guys know why the comparison websites are providing me with funny and invalid quotes?

The quotes may not be invalid, unless you have entered incorrect info. Premiums have gone up massively in the last year, with many commenting that their premiums have doubled. Last year I paid under £200, but this year I will be lucky to obtain a premium under £300. As many people will advise, check with a local broker to see what they can come up with. Not all companies use comparison sites.

    2. I am quite happy with my current insurer, however I am looking for a policy that offers drive other cars which then I will be happy to switch my insurance to them.

Normally DOC is only available for policyholders aged 25 or over (not aware of company offering to under 25's). Remember that DOC is for emergency use only, as it is third party cover (no cover for damage to car being driven). Insurers do not like it being used as regular cover for driving another car, as you should arrange appropriate cover for the car being driven.

Quinn direct used to do it but they changed their fool mind for whatever reason.

Quinn had no choice but to change, as they were in financial difficulty. If you do your research on Quinn, you will find info on why they were forced to make changes.

Kwik fit does it but it is too expensive (1800 pound) do you know of any other insurance website?

Kwik Fit are actually just an intermediary, who arrange cover via various Insurers. Check to see who they are quoting the £1800 with, to see whether it is possible to approach them directly or via another agency. Remember that intermediaries buy underwriting capacity, with a basic rate for the risk and then include additional amounts to provide the rate that you would pay. Perhaps the underwriter will quote a better price elsewhere.

And finally does anyone have any tips on what are the working and valid comparison website that doesn’t show funny results to the user?

They are not funny, but are proper rates based on the info you entered. But they are only one source,so you should do your research by shopping around.

Young driver, "drive other cars" car insurance

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post so hello to everyone.

I am basically looking for a car insurance which offers a drive other cars policy for under 25. I am currently 23 and have 4 years of no claim bonus and my renewal is due in June. My car is group 6 so not highly powered or expensive to insure. What confuses me is that although I have 4 years of no claim bonus, my premium is quite expensive using websites such as go compare and confused.com. The price ranges from 600 to 3000 pound. Only few insurers quote less than 1000 pound with high excess (£500 or higher) Where I am getting confused is that, my own insurer has insured me for a full year comprehensive last year for only £500 and I expect to see a lower quote from them this year. However when I check their price (Quinn direct) on go compare website, they have quoted me for £2500 which I really do not understand Thus my questions are: 1. Does any of you guys know why the comparison websites are providing me with funny and invalid quotes? 2. I am quite happy with my current insurer, however I am looking for a policy that offers drive other cars which then I will be happy to switch my insurance to them. Quinn direct used to do it but they changed their fool mind for whatever reason. Kwik fit does it but it is too expensive (1800 pound) do you know of any other insurance website? And finally does anyone have any tips on what are the working and valid comparison website that doesn’t show funny results to the user? Thanks in advance
