Check with whoever deals with communal issues. Is there a company that deals with maintenance of the roof? Or is the council still the owner/maintainer of the roof ?

If you buy the roof, you would have to have your deeds amended with associated legal costs, advise your mortgage company and then take responsibility for your section. Is it worth the hassle, if there is no current problem.

To start with - why would you want to do this ?

Secondly - if the roof is communal (covering all the flats) - how would you do this ?

Afternoon all

I've purchased a masionette from a family whom originally bought it from the council after renting for some years(Scotland). I'm on the top floor and the block has only 3 council tenants from 9 properties left. The roof is communial and my query is it possible for me to buy the section of roofing covering my section of the property?

I'm awaiting a response from the council but was wondering if anyone had any experience in this field?
