Hi there, i recently moved into a property where the gas and electricity is both EDF Energy and set up direct debits accordingly etc.
To my amazement when returning home from work today i had a letter on the doorstep addressed to me personally by Npower, the letter read as follows
Dear Mr X Your Electricity Meter Details
I need to check your electricity meter details to help us resolve your query. If you can access your meter easily please give us the details shown below to help us ensure that your bills are accurate.
If you arent able to check your meter please call me within the next 10 days on 01661 81 4317 and we'll arrange for a meter reader to call at a time to suit you. I'm here to take your call 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Simply call me with the below details or email me at james.smith2@npower.com
We won't be able to resolve your query without this information so please contact us within the next 10 days. If we don't hear from you we'll continue to send you bills and follow up your account.
Then undernath it has boxes to put in my meter serial number, meter type, current reading and date of such reading.
The thing is i have never had an query with them whatsoever and am with edf energy as edf checked the national grid to make sure when i moved in, i'm not sure how they have got my name or anything but to be honest i want no contact with them.
Any advice on why this might have arrived etc, EDF did change my electricity meter from a pre-payment to a normal meter on the 6th of this month that is how i know for sure i'm with them etc and have no dealings with npower, could this meter change be something to do with this since my local supplier being in the north east would be npower but my actual supplier is edf, i am ion a confused muddle so any help from someone who might have a clue is welcome
thanks
john
