Re: Personal liability insurance in UK?

Normally, if you take out Contents Insurance for your possessions in your flat/house, this will cover your personal liability. This will cover your liability in and away from the flat/house, provided that you are proved legally liable.

Your friend would need to claim against the car drivers car Insurance, if the car driver was at fault. Under car Insurance you have liability cover for accidents in which you cause damage to a third party or their property. So your friend could make a claim against the car driver Insurance for injury and any associated costs.

    Personal liability insurance in UK?

    Hi there,

I have recently moved to the UK and was wondering whether there is something like a "personal liability insurance" as we have in Germany (Privathaftpflicht), which insures you if you are e.g. responsible for an accident or cause flooding or fire in a rented property.

A friend of mine got hit by a car a few weeks back while cycling in the town centre and I just wondered who would pay for her hospital stay etc.

Any information would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Kate
