    Orange broadband MAC code

So far I have called these people twice requesting my MAC number. They are a bunch a professional fools. Try ringing them, for at least 3 minutes you get press 1,2,3,4 for this or that service. Eventually some one will speak to you only to tell you that s/he knows nothing about it and has to check. S/he disappears and you start listning to some rubbish music for another 5 minutes. After all this they come back to tell you " we shall e-mail it to you within 5 days". they means within 5 days may be in 2008/09.

I called them on 3/4/07 at 18.10 pm. I called them on 13/4/2007 at 12.10 pm and today is 16/4/2007 and I still do not have my MAC code.

I shall never use their services nor I would recommend it to anyone. They are absolutely rubbish.

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

Sorry for the "me too" post, but Orange seem to be dragging their feet on my MAC code request too!  They claim it's a migration problem and to ring back in 3 days... (repeat previous step a couple of times!)   Makes a joke of the 5 days that their meant to reply in!

    Hi,

I want to sign up to the sky package (phone, tv, and broadband) and I'm a little worried about getting a MAC number from Orange and cancelling the phone package, my wife thinks we will end up paying two lots of money out if we get the timing wrong, any advice that you might have would be really appreciated.

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

    Hi all

Know how you all feel but now at last I am free of Orange - all tags have been removed from my BT line!! Yippee!!!!!

I too had the same problems after receiving my MAC code last month - they had not taken the tags off the line and tried to blame BT.  BT informed us that Orange had not raised the order requesting this workd to be carried out - seems that all the customer service operators lie.  Having spent a fortune on telephone calls and speaking to well over 15 different Orange employees - all but two woefully lacking in the ability or inclination to assist we tried every avenue there was. We were ev eventually put through to escalations.

When we rang to speak to escalations we were told it did not exist – we had only been talking to them the day previous. We were told to ring back later and we might get through to the other team then – no one seems to be able to transfer calls. When we asked for the Head Office telephone number they gave us it only to hear the response ‘Hello you are through to British Gas’ when we rang the number – yes you read correctly!!

A request for a MAC code at the end of March took until almost the end of April - it should have been issued within five days and as we all know is computer generated, yet it took them almost a month from the date of request and then it was reluctantly given to us.

I stopped my direct debit as I thought to myself if they can’t provide broadband then I won’t pay them any money. Then the day they realised my direct debit had been refused - they rang me to ask why the direct debit had been refused – to which I replied with the full story again only this time they were paying the bill for the telephone call!! I bet he wished he had never rang us – I was put through to every Tom, Will and Harry until they decided to put me through to the ‘cap champ’ working that night!! Can you believe it they even give their staff stupid names like that!!

Wish you luck in your ongoing battle with Orange - don't give up - we didn't!!

    Cheers

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

    Hi Guys,

I got through to Orange today (Saturday) at 10:48 (19.05.07), it took 11:19 minutes which is not too bad, a supervisor called Anthony asked why I was changing, and I told him about the Sky package deal, he said fair enough, and they would send a MAC number to me within 48 hours! I will keep you posted.

    Hi,

I said I would keep you posted, I got my MAC number on Wednesday four days after requesting it, however the fat lady hasn't sung yet as I still have to migrate over, and Sky will have to live up to their end, so the story goes on........

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

    Hi

Thought I was all sorted after having the tags taken off the BT line and all ready for Sky to let me know when they were coming - however received a letter today with username and no date of installation or password.  They are blaming BT - we know the line is clear as BT rang us last Friday to inform us of this so they shouldn't have a problem.

Decided to opt for the XL virgin package and buy a router for the other computers in the house - virgin's customer support is free and if they keep you waiting for any length of time at least you don't have to pay for the call.  I am cancelling my sky Max at £10 per month, since I haven't got it yet!! and opting for the free version as I have all the rest of the sky packages - might as well have something off them for free as an email backup ... We will wait and see how long it takes them to get themselves into gear.

Hope you have better luck than I did.

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

    Hi all,

I have had the sky broadband package (Tv,broadband, phone) installed on the 08.06.07 just as they said they would, which for me means a saving of about £35 per month, and although I would have been happy to receive the same download speed as I had with Orange, it is much faster, on various speed tests I have been getting an average of 11.7mg download and .6-7 upload

    Re: Orange broadband MAC code

    Hi Oberland

I have the box for sky and have paid for it but due to them already having one request they can't give me a password and login etc- think they must have some ex-Orange employees working for them!! .  A bit annoying but it seems that there are problems with their database and they cannot cancel an order yet can take your money and place a second.  Will just stick with virgin for the moment and try for sky later in the year - why can't everything run smoothly?

A work colleague came in this morning - fuming - informed me they had no no internet access (Orange of course) and spent half an hour on the phone to them and still got nowhere.  Told her to take a look at this site and a few others so that she wouldn't feel alone and that there were others in the same position.  I did warn her when I was having problems with mine - she too is well out of contract and has never ever asked for an upgrade.

Pleased to hear that everything is OK with you now and that sky is OK.
